Gypsy Horses
What can I say about this magical breed?
From the time I first saw a picture of a gypsy horse, I was determined to have one. It took me 5 years but I finally saved up enough money to buy my very first gypsy and I have been in love with this remarkable breed ever since.
Gypsy horses have also been called Gypsy Cobs, Irish Cobs, Gypsy Vanners and Tinker Horses. They originated from England and Ireland where they were bred to pull the gypsy carts. They were bred for their flashy colors, extreme pulling strength and docile temperaments. They are a small breed of draft horse believed to come from a mixture of Fresian, Fell Pony, Shire and Clydesdale. Gypsies are known for their stocky build, hair and feather. Most gypsies range in size from 13-15 hands but they can be a variety of sizes. Although bred for driving, this versatile breed can be used from trail riding to show jumping and everything in between. Gypsy horses are getting more popular in the U.S. but they are still considered somewhat of a rare breed. Many horses are still being imported from the UK.
We specialize in black and white gypsies with blue eyes. Our horses have traditional build, size and an abundance of hair and feather. We and slowing growing our gypsy herd and we can't wait to see our future foals. Please check back for updates!

Above photo is from the annual Adobe Reyes Parade in Agoura Hills, CA. These amazing gypsy horses are owned by Desert Jewel Gypsy Horses. I am in the center riding "Mama Sky". She is the grandma to Claire's coming 2013 foal!
